The most common type of forging equipment is the hammer and anvil. Principles behind the hammer and anvil are still used today in drop-hammer equipment. The principle behind the machine is simple: raise the hammer and drop it or propel it into the workpiece, which rests on the anvil. The main variations between drop-hammers are in the way the hammer is powered; the most common being air and steam hammers. Drop-hammers usually operate in a vertical position. 109. British Leyland Car Bearings

British Leyland was a British automotive company formed in 1968 through the merger of several British automobile manufacturers, including British Motor Corporation (BMC) and Leyland Motors. British Leyland was created on January 17, 1968, as a state-owned entity with the aim of consolidating the British automotive industry. It brought together various well-known British brands, including Austin, Morris, MG, Triumph, Jaguar, Rover, and Land Rover. In 1986, the British government privatized British Leyland, and the company was renamed Rover Group. In 1988, British Aerospace acquired the Rover Group, and later, in 1994, BMW purchased Rover Group. Under BMW's ownership, the Rover Group faced challenges, including financial losses and a lack of synergy with the BMW brand. In 2000, BMW decided to sell the Rover Group, and the MG Rover consortium, consisting of several British businessmen, acquired it. However, MG Rover faced ongoing financial difficulties, and in 2005, the company entered administration, leading to the end of MG Rover production.
