3. Roll Forging
Roll forging is a process where round or flat bar stock is reduced in thickness and increased in length. The only difference comes from better sealing from the elements in a bike application. He seemed to think that bushings were the best option on bikes as you dont get a point load which in hindsight is what full sussers used to use and bearings kits were an "upgrade". Interestingly I don't remember ever having a problem with bushings.

A thrust bearing is a particular type of rotary bearing. Like other bearings they permit rotation between parts, but they are designed to support a high axial load while doing this. They can support rather larger thrust loads than the ball type due to the larger contact area, but are more expensive to manufacture. Spherical roller thrust bearings consists of two rings and asymmetrical rollers of spherical shape. They can accommodate combined radial and axial loads and also accommodate misalignment of the shafts. They are often used together with radial spherical roller bearings.

Y-bearings in the 17262(00)-2RS1 and 17263(00)-2RS1 series , with a standard inner ring, have Normal tolerances for the bearing bore diameter and are located on the shaft using an appropriate interference fit. The only difference between these Y-bearings and deep groove ball bearings in the 62 or 63 series is the sphered outside surface of the outer ring. These Y-bearings are suitable for applications where smooth running is a key operating requirement. These bearings can accommodate heavier axial loads than Y-bearings of any other design. The SKF range comprises bearings for metric shafts from 17 to 60 mm.
