Fitting scooter bearings into Metal core wheels is a little trickier as they are designed to be a tight fit so pushing them in by hand rarely works. In our workshop we used to use a vise to gently squeeze them in, but now we use a hammer!! Apply a small amount of grease to the edges of each bearing you are going to install. Apply a small amount of grease to the inside hole on the scooter wheel where the bearings are going to be fitted. Place the bearing over the hole in the wheel and try and make sure that it is straight/level as possible. Place either a block of wood or an old paperback book over the top of the bearing and gently strike this with the hammer (Important - do not strike the bearing directly with the hammer). When the bearing has been hammered in fully into the hole in the middle of your wheel it should sit flush with the edge of the wheel Turn the wheel over and insert the bearing spacer (you will need a bearing spacer, if you do not use one your wheel will not spin when you do your axles up securely!)

A thrust bearing is a particular type of rotary bearing. Like other bearings they permit rotation between parts, but they are designed to support a high axial load while doing this. Spherical roller thrust bearings consists of two rings and asymmetrical rollers of spherical shape. They can accommodate combined radial and axial loads and also accommodate misalignment of the shafts. They are often used together with radial spherical roller bearings.

He seemed to think that bushings were the best option on bikes as you dont get a point load which in hindsight is what full sussers used to use and bearings kits were an "upgrade". Interestingly I don't remember ever having a problem with bushings.

The die attached to the ram is usually flat or of a simple contour, most of the shaping is achieved by the operator physically positioning the work piece before each stroke of the ram. There are also special dies which can be used to cut the metal, form holes or notches.

The initial workpiece is usually wire or rod, but some machines can accept bars up to 25 cm (9.8 in) in diameter and a capacity of over 1000 tons. The standard upsetting machine employs split dies that contain multiple cavities. The dies open enough to allow the workpiece to move from one cavity to the next; the dies then close and the heading tool, or ram, then moves longitudinally against the bar, upsetting it into the cavity. If all of the cavities are utilized on every cycle then a finished part will be produced with every cycle, which makes this process advantageous for mass production.

Volvo Cars was founded on April 14, 1927, in Gothenburg, Sweden, as a subsidiary of the ball bearing manufacturer SKF. The first Volvo car, the Volvo ÖV4, also known as the "Jakob," rolled off the production line in 1927. In the 1930s, Volvo introduced the PV series, which included popular models like the PV444 and PV544. During World War II, Volvo temporarily shifted its focus to producing military vehicles and equipment. In 1944, Volvo appointed engineer Nils Bohlin, who invented the modern three-point safety belt, making it a standard feature in Volvo cars. In the 1950s and 1960s, Volvo continued to prioritize safety and introduced various safety innovations, including the laminated windshield and the energy-absorbing crumple zone. Volvo expanded internationally, establishing assembly plants in various countries, including Canada and the United States. In 1970, Volvo Cars was acquired by the Ford Motor Company. Under Ford's ownership, Volvo saw further expansion and development. Volvo introduced iconic models such as the Volvo 240, Volvo 740, and Volvo 850, known for their safety features and reliability. In 2010, Ford sold Volvo Cars to Zhejiang Geely Holding Group, a Chinese automotive company. Under Geely's ownership, Volvo Cars underwent a rejuvenation, focusing on modern design, technological innovation, and sustainability. Volvo introduced the SPA (Scalable Product Architecture) platform, which underpins its current vehicle lineup and enables electrification. The company has been committed to electric mobility and launched its first fully electric vehicle, the Volvo XC40 Recharge, in 2020. Volvo Cars aims to become a leader in sustainable mobility, with a plan to be a fully electric car company by 2030.
