Last time i bought some bearings from a local supplier the old boy who worked there said he had done research in a previous job into bearings in similar applications to suspension i.e applications where the bearing never does a full rotation and the conclusion was that within reason any bearing will perform the same. The only difference comes from better sealing from the elements in a bike application. He seemed to think that bushings were the best option on bikes as you dont get a point load which in hindsight is what full sussers used to use and bearings kits were an "upgrade". Interestingly I don't remember ever having a problem with bushings.

The standard outer ring, which has a convex sphered outer surface and no lubrication holes, is identified by the suffix W. YHB 2 and YHC 2 bearings Bearings with a hexagonal bore are filled with a special VT357 specification grease (see section "Grease fill"). They are fitted with the rugged LS8 contact seal, which rides on the ground surface of the inner ring shoulder . In cases where there is a lubrication hole in the outer ring, the suffix W is omitted from the bearing designation. YQC 2 bearings. Bearings with a square bore are equipped with a highly efficient triple lip contact seal, which rides on the ground surface of the inner ring shoulder . These bearings are filled with the standard grease (see section "Grease fill"). Bearings having a cylindrical outer surface are also available and identified by the suffix C, e.g. YQC 208-102 CW.

Drop forging is a metal shaping process, the metal to be formed is first heated then shaped by forcing it into the contours of a die, this force can be in excess of 2000 tons.
